The Craigellachie Scottish Dance Band was formed in 1988. Its aim
has always been to produce disciplined Scottish dance music which is both good
to dance to and good to listen to. It prides itself on its musical arrangements
which are always refreshing, yet are equally at home in the ballroom. The band
has played extensively in the UK and abroad, has made six recordings, appeared
twice on national television, and has broadcast twice on Radio Scotland's Take
The Floor dance programme. It has many friends north of the border who have
travelled south to play with the band. This list includes Iain MacPhail, Maureen
Rutherford, Neil Barron and Nicol MacLaren who is guesting with the band
tonight. The Craigellachie Band strongly believes that the future of the music
lies in encouraging youngsters and tonight's band includes two of the youngest
to have broadcast from the BBC's Aberdeen studios.
