Hampton Park Hot Topics |

This is not part of my ward nowadays, pity. However, Ford is and Hampton Park is still in our home Parish, so I take a keen interest. After all the public consultation, it goes forward to Wiltshire Council, who say it will be examined again in June, after the election. Hampton Park II remains a ‘preferred option’ in the Forward Planning jargon, if not a preferred option locally. The public meeting in Greentrees school voted to accept development but with a limited number of houses and as close to the existing density of Hampton Park as possible. The Country Park is essential and must serve to stop any further development, by being taken into the ownership of the Laverstock & Ford Parish Council. Many other facilities relating to an overcrowded Greentrees school and inadequate Pavilion were also raised. All these points were documented by the planners, as required by the people. At the subsequent ‘Barretts’ exhibition, it was reported, by everyone that attended, that Barretts are reluctant to negotiate and do not appear to be listening to local people at all. This is hardening attitudes against the land being ‘easily’ accepted. Although there is still an overwhelming willingness to get around a table and sort it out, to prevent a public uprising. Barretts take heed! Public Enquiry takes place re Retail Park Last week of February and a Planning Inspector has been taking evidence. I was part of the Planning & Regulatory Panel that turned the latest application for eight large units down. They would not sit well on London Road and it was shown that the building and subsequent delivery lorries would have to travel the HGV route around Salisbury, just to get to the site! The rail bridge needs heightening (road lowered) in advance, so the lorries can enter directly. The WCC Highways do not want to understand how vital this is locally. So for this and other reasons, we voted it out, despite officers saying it should be approved! The local population and also the Parish Council have voted for houses and this has been represented to the developers. Hampton Park Pavilion The Parish Council has received a visit from Richard Munro of the new Wiltshire Authority and he has given verbal confirmation that all will continue seamlessly. The PC has said that they would like to discuss ownership and management in future. Parish Plan Remember the contents apply to all residents in the Parish. Get involved if you can. |
