You all know that the A36 Cycleway Alderbury to Wilton, will receive part of the £50 million lottery grant won by SUSTRANS.

The most important gain locally will be the road crossing of the A36.  It will be a Toucan Crossing, suitable for cycles and pedestrians. 

 

These things take time as there are many landowners that require consultation and agreements need to reached.  Charged with this task is Alistair Millington, who has been appointed by SUSTRANS to achieve this section of the national cycleway.

We all wish him very speedy success.

Postbox at Petersfinger

Whilst I was successful at getting the postbox restored in Petersfinger Road, the final task is to get the original box reopened at the junction.  Now that the Park & Ride site is underway, the closure of Petersfinger Road gets nearer.  That is when the old box should get its second life.  By then, my time as your District Councillor will be over, as Salisbury District Council ends on 31 March.  Your new Unitary Councillor will represent a new Winterslow Ward.  You should enlist that councilor’s help, if the Parish Council experience any difficulty in getting Royal Mail to honour their pledge.
